Here is a list of local literary events for September:
Breakout Writing/Critique Groups:
Tuesdays – 1 to 3 pm – Write On! at the Benson Center for Active Aging, 1204 N Johnson St, Benson. Facilitator is NCWN member Barbara Crowley. Free.
Wednesdays – 3 to 4 pm – The Write Stuff, a memoir writing group, at the Clayton Center for Active Aging, 303 Dairy Rd, Clayton. Facilitator is Neuse River Writers president Char Vinar. Free.
Thursdays – 1 to 3 pm – Telling Our Stories at the Harrison Center for Active Aging, 611 W Noble St, Selma. Facilitator is NCWN member Cindy Brookshire. Free.
Friday, September 18 – 1 to 3 pm – Benson Writing Critique Group meets at the Benson Center for Active Aging, 1204 N Johnson St, Benson. Facilitator is NCWN member Barbara Crowley. Email her for details at batrc123@gmail.com.
Open Mic:
Saturday, September 12 – 3 to 5 pm – Neuse River Writers presents W I D E Open Mic at Strickland Art Gallery, 115 South Raiford St., Selma. Seize the mic! Poems, stories, jokes, songs. Cindy Brookshire, emcee. Thank you hosts, William & Jim Strickland.
Workshop/Group Meetings:
Thursday, September 17 – 5 to 7 pm – Session 9 of the year-long Fiction Writers Group with John Neblett at the Public Library of Johnston County, 305 E Market St., in Smithfield, second-floor Board Room. The group is using K.M. Weiland’s Structuring Your Novel book & workbook (available on Amazon) with the goal to produce a well-crafted novel by year’s end. neblettassoc@mindspring.com.
